I fully believe in the healing energies of the mountain, and I believe in the original mother’s ability to hold us as we heal. Creating the space for others to explore their own greatest healing experience with Her is what I am called to do. That is the heartbeat of Mountain Medicine.
The mountain, and its many teachings, hold very specific and significant spaces within my overall human experience.
What I find to be most brilliant about the whole entire design of it is that the mountain will – and does – merge uniquely with anything that calls to commune with her. Similar teachings, yes – and also, uniquely crafted to meet one’s personal inner landscapes.
Mountain Medicine, Center for Healing, Decompression, Integration + Re-acclimation is a place to process the experiences navigated while on trail and how those experiences may inform our lives as we move forward upon the trail of life. It is a space to commune with fellow travelers who understand the unique experience of high-mileage hiking, thru-hiking and section hiking. It is a space to decompress, integrate and re-acclimate back into post-trail life in a slow, intentional and supportive environment.
At Mountain Medicine, we believe it is the absolute right of all humans to explore their most vibrant, healthy, and expansive experiences as they navigate through their life journey.
“We also believe that all humans are fully capable, and inherently worthy, of activating their fullest healing experiences as they journey forward into a life of freedom and liberation from their past pain, trauma, and limiting beliefs.”
Mountain Medicine offers a unique experience of merging healing journeys with mountaineering journeys to create transformative experiences of liberation, reclamation, and re-connection.
Intention:
These experiences ask us to be in our trust, vulnerability, power, openness and presence as we journey to locate, and call forward, our own greatest healing experience.
Mountain Medicine offers experiences of support in locating one’s deeper intention + purpose for embarking upon such a transformative journey.
Decompression: Intensive mind, body, soul experiences require absolute presence and awareness to ensure one’s safety as well as one’s transformation.
This level of daily devotion can become exhausting to the nervous system. Mountain Medicine offers intentional time, space and community to fully process the journey.
Integration:
Integration refers to the process by which the insights gained in an experience are incorporated over time in a manner that benefits the individual and their community.
Mountain Medicine values the many benefits that come from an intentional integration journey and are grateful to hold this space.
Re-acclimation:
A common thread woven amongst those called to explore the trail is that of peace. A silencing of the daily activities and sounds of a faster paced city life. An experience which recalibrates and re-centers one back to their natural way of Being.
Once the trail ends, the anticipation of returning to the daily experiences of city life can be daunting and overwhelming; oftentimes leading to extended periods of depression. Mountain Medicine is here to soften and support that transition.
‘I have asked myself this question many times over the last few years, “What do I wish would have existed for me to experience deeper healing, integration and embodiment?” ‘
“The answer is Mountain Medicine.”
That is what I wish existed for me 9 years ago. Which is why I hold the vision of Mountain Medicine being accessible to all who feel called to explore the experiences offered here.
In the Peruvian shamanic medicine wheel we invoke the presence of eagle medicine in the direction of the East, we ask that Eagle “comes to us from the place of the rising Sun, showing us the mountain tops we only dare to dream of…”
The first time I was witness to the opening of sacred space through the medicine wheel, I wept during the invocation of the East. Well… I’ll be honest, I wept throughout the entire invocation of opening such a potent, protected, expansive, and yet simultaneously, grounded medicine space. To call that time a sensational and transformative experience is a grand understatement. For me, it was nothing short of life-altering.
I wept within that circle of ceremony for many reasons, the most unexpected of them being the simplicity of it all. To be guided in the direction of peace, love and harmony, I only need to look to the natural world. The natural world is one with all. Simple, simple math.
I now hike the mountains of the Pacific Crest Trail as a true offering of my gratitude and thanks – and also an offering for the evidence of my embodiment of Her teachings; magnifying the message of her powerful healing ways as I go.
May all Beings call forward their worthiness to commune with the mountain in the name of healing, connection, and peace.
