There is something different about writing when we intentionally make space for it. Rooted in Story is two quiet, creative hours set aside for exactly that. Through a series of thoughtfully chosen prompts, you’ll write, reflect, and have the opportunity to share your words with a small group of writers who have gathered for the same reason. There are no lessons to master, no publishing strategies to learn, and no expectations about what you should create. You do not need to arrive with a project, a plan, or even an idea. Just bring yourself. I’ll bring the prompts. We’ll make room for whatever wants to be written.
December can be noisy. This is two hours to become quiet enough to hear your own words again.
On December 12, we’ll gather in a small circle of no more than 10 writers for two hours of guided writing, reflection, and sharing. I’ll bring the prompts and gently guide us through the morning, but there is nowhere we have to get to and nothing you have to produce.
Some prompts may take you somewhere familiar. Others may surprise you. You can write a memory, a poem, a scene, a reflection, a piece of fiction, or something that doesn’t have a name yet.
You are welcome to share what you write, and you are equally welcome to simply listen.
This is time set aside for your creativity, your words, and your story.

Rooted in Story is limited to just 10 writers. Registration closes December 3, 2026, or when all seats are filled, so your welcome package has time to reach you before we gather.
Rooted in Story is an intimate, two-hour virtual creative writing retreat. On December 12, 2026, we’ll gather live on Zoom for a morning of guided writing prompts, reflection, and optional sharing in a small circle of no more than 10 writers. This is not a class or publishing workshop—it is simply protected time to write and be in creative community.
Registration is $99 and includes the live two-hour retreat as well as a Rooted in Story welcome package mailed to you before we gather.
Not at all. Rooted in Story is for writers at every stage. You do not need to be published, have a work in progress, or even know what you want to write. Come exactly where you are.
Your package will include a Rooted in Story journal, a handwritten welcome note from Sharissa, a pen, and a few cozy surprises to help make your writing morning feel a little more special. Packages will be mailed before the retreat so you can have yours with you when we gather. Shipping within the United States is included with your registration.
No. You will be invited to share throughout our time together, but sharing is always optional. You are welcome to write, listen, reflect, and participate in whatever way feels most comfortable for you.
No. Rooted in Story is intentionally a live, private gathering. Because writers may choose to share personal or unfinished work during our time together, the retreat will not be recorded. What is shared in the circle stays in the circle.
Registration closes December 3, 2026, or when all 10 spaces have been filled—whichever comes first. This gives me time to prepare and mail your welcome package before we gather on December 12.
Payment is required when you register. If you need to cancel, registrations canceled on or before December 3, 2026 are eligible for a refund, less any non-refundable payment processing fees.
After December 3, registrations are non-refundable because your welcome package and event materials will have been prepared and mailed.
If 5 Two Press must cancel Rooted in Story, all registered participants will receive a full refund.
On December 12, you don’t need a plan, a finished project, or a goal to accomplish. You just need to arrive.
Bring your journal. Bring your curiosity. Bring whatever has been waiting quietly for a little space.
I’ll bring the prompts. We’ll make room for the words together.
